Hats are an essential part of the wardrobe, but in American cities-- you rarely see women wearing them out to public-places. U.S. store-fronts do not display the decor-pieces, as they would shoes and cloths. A female should cover the head-- out of respect for the fatherland, like the WWII generation did. Think of it as part of an uniform, that has to be put on when leaving the house.
